What to wear for a wedding night?

I'm going to a wedding 6 hours tomorrow and have no idea what to wear. Companies are more, so I want to wear something that flattered my figure. Marriage is a church. The invitation says "formal dress, then I do not think it would be appropriate evening dresses. (We in the south and usually "formal dress" is listed on the notice if they want you to do an evening gown and tuxedo.) I have a chocolate brown suit that has a faux wrap top and Knee length. And 'short sleeve, so I could make a cardigan or something with it. Cute kitten heels that I would have gone and some gold jewelry brown and rather elegant. Is it fair or is too random? I also have a long black skirt and heels blacks, but not really have a top elegant. I could wear black? My funds (And time) are limited, so I will have to do a lot of shopping. Furthermore, we are more than 2 hours driving to the wedding, so I want something that will travel relatively well. Thanks!

Do not wear black. And 'funeral-y, and I believe that when women plus size dress in black, seems to have dressed in black to make themselves look thinner, I'm a big girl too, and I hate wearing black because of this. But yes, the brown suit sounds good. I would not wear jewelry in gold and brown though. Gold is good, but will brown too monochromatic. Wear only gold, or some kind of Turquiose or something, or pink, bright shoes would be good alone to add a little 'color and dressed tothe interest.
