Help! the dressing – Style .. Indie clothes?

I like the style of Zooey Deschanel and other fashion icons like indie it. What I want to know is how to dress like her and on a budget. I am a size 12/13 – not too "large", but the limit in size and I know I do not look good in a baby pool and / or short shorts .. I tried it myself, and out ok .. But for a little tired Skinny jeans, t-shirts and jackets – especially with summer coming up .. I'm desperate for ideas and need help. If please do tel me where to shop (aka: Old Navy, Forever 21 ..) I have been in stores for thousands of times, I do not know what be paired together. I need help required to put a little picture or even pictures on things that I can wear ..
