Trying to determine my cat’s breed?

I rescued a cat that seems freakishly large for a house cat and am trying to get some idea of what breed he is or might be. Here is what I can tell you.
He is jet black – lips, whiskers, paw pads, fur
Fur is short
Eye color seems to range from emerald green to yellow-green
His tail is thick at the base and tapers to a point and also has short hair.
He is very vocal and will talk back to me
Very affectionate and docile
I am defining large based on these measurements / facts. From tip of tail to nose he is about 34 inches long. The tail itself is about 14 inches long. He stands about 18 inches tall at the shoulder and about 19.5″ tall at the base of his tail. I can fit three size 11-12 fingers between his shoulders, he weighs about 22 lbs, and when standing on his hind legs he can wrap his front paws over the kitchen counters.
He also has very large fangs, about an inch plus long each.

Well except for the size of your cat, everything appears normal. The breed is indetermenant. But if I had to guess, I’d say a Bombay. Evidenced below.

This from wikipedia, A black cat is a feline whose fur is uniformly all black, or almost all black. It is not a particular breed of cat and may be mixed or of a specific breed. The all-black pigmentation is equally prevalent in both male and female cats.

In Western history, black cats have often been looked upon as a symbol of evil omens, specifically being suspected of being the familiars of witches; in other cultures they are considered to be good omens.

Black cats have been found to have lower odds of adoption in American shelters compared to other colors (except brown).[1]

More specifically, the black cat—often called the “sab cat” or “sabo-tabby”[2]

It sounds like you have a “Bombay” -
“I’d love to own a panther.”

This oft heard comment piqued the imagination of a prominent cat breeder, the late Nikki Horner, from Louisville, Kentucky. Ms. Horner set her sights on producing a copper-eyed black shorthaired cat with the exotic appearance of a “mini”, or “parlor-panther.” The black leopard of India inspired her choice of the breed’s name. Ms. Horner began her effort in 1953 with the selection of a black American Shorthair male with deep copper eye color and a Grand Champion sable Burmese female. Through a long process of inbreeding and outcrossing and careful selection, she was able to consistently produce a black cat unlike any other.

The Bombay achieved CFA Championship status in 1976, eighteen years after it was created. Outcrossing to Black American Shorthairs and sable Burmese is still allowed.

It has been said that if you want a dog, a cat, or a monkey, you want a Bombay. Bombays can often be leash trained, most enjoy playing “fetch,” and all are fond of inventing new ways to entertain themselves and the folks that live with them. Bombays are congenial and outgoing, and make intelligent, affectionate companions. They do well with children and will often act as a “greeter” with visitors. They live compatibly with dogs and other pets as well. The Bombay generally combines the easy-going temperament and robust nature of the American Shorthair and the social, inquisitive, lap-loving character of the Burmese.

With the exception of color, the Bombay and Burmese standards are very similar. Whereas the Burmese body presents a compact sturdy appearance, the Bombay body is of medium length, neither compact nor rangy, presenting a more lithesome appearance then its Burmese cousin. The Bombay’s head is rounded with a short muzzle, but there should not be a “pugged” or “snubbed” look. The coat is the most defining characteristic of the Bombay. Its short, flat, gleaming, black-to-the-roots coat accentuates its rippling muscular form. And, along with its conspicuous gold to copper eye color, leads to the Bombay being described as the “Patent leather kid with the copper penny eyes.”
