Educate your child in a private school, is this a good idea?

Sending your child to a private school is an important element and perhaps life-changing decision to be weighed carefully. Is this a good idea to uproot the child, put him in a new school, leave their friends behind the old school? In my opinion, one of which was myself, certainly, yes.

My introduction to school Private began at the age of 12 years, when I entered the seventh year in a preparatory school for girls called Laurel private Shaker Heights, Ohio. It was scary at first to leave the familiarity of friends from my old school, a large public school in another city. Every day I had to be led by my parents of my new school, which was nearly an hour from home. In addition, a new school aims to make new friends a new environment, rather frightening to a shy girl like me. Children can be a little hard on the new guy, I teased a bit at first. And for worse, I had to wear a uniform. No more jeans, t-shirts and casual wear. I thought that was the end of the world at the beginning.

The truth of the matter was, it changed my life for the better in countless ways. First, classes are smaller, which means that each student receives more attention from the teacher. What was good for learning, but bad for relax. Oh yes, we Laurel girls were the masters of girl jokes and silly at times, but we knew we had to behave and saved the pleasure of study hall. He intends to get to work, to be a more disciplined student. If I had difficulties with a subject, it meant summer school if my grades were not up to par. Only once did I need to go to summer school, summer after 7th year. It was actually a pleasant experience but a great source of motivation not to return next year.

There is became clear to me, even as a teenager who wore a uniform every day was a break from worrying about what to wear every day. He gave me the opportunity to focus on something other than fashion. The uniforms were comfortable, tastefully decorated and nobody laughed at someone else's sense of mode, since we all wore them. We had the choice of tartan, solid green or light green chevrons, with either white, blue or yellow oxford shirts (short or long sleeves). I became a master at ironing shirts, since he must do every morning. So we had a little control over what we wore, just a little. If we wanted to bring the most fashionable clothing and fashion, has saved us after school for meetings with friends.

Also, my new school was (and still) a great space for art, which was my main goal as a kid, being an artist. Laurel school had a whole floor art! We have authorized to pursue all forms of art which previously had only read about such as enamelling, pottery raku-making, wheel-thrown pottery, color theory, and more. In addition, we have been encouraged to be creative in other arts such as dance, theater and music too. They had a summer theater camp, which I participated in. There was not a band (I had been in the school orchestra in public schools, and lack of being able to play an instrument), but it was Glee Club and chorus. I got into both, and those who enjoy thoroughly. My new school had a proper appreciation of the arts that led me to exercise my interest in all artistic sites throughout my adult life.

Shyness, in a private school, there was no way to blend into the wallpaper. They called me out if I liked or not. It was good for me because this child is timid not an adult at all shy. The teachers were caring and supportive, welcoming touch with their students. It was nice to be invited to Christmas my teacher one year, and being shy, she'd stick with it to feel more at ease. Ms. Priscilla Ford was my teacher of algebra, and totally a class act. She tutoring in mathematics, who was my enemy at school, and was a painter on the side, then she linked to my artistic process. My art teacher, Mrs. Helen Biehle, too, was a friend, and teachers. It was wonderful to have such a powerful and salutary influence over the tumultuous adolescence. I have great need of confidence and as an adult I have no fear of public speaking in my speech former teacher, Ms. Schenk. Four years of having to come up and the sweat wealth while giving each type of speech can really imagine the force of shyness almost everyone.

All in all, private education is a wonderful experience, quality protection from a busy, crazy world. It was a sheltered existence, but what is good during the formative years of a young, impressionable children. There were no boys for us girls to flirt with, and clear limits to what has been agreed to us both socially and academically. He taught us all manners and respect not only for themselves but the world around us. We took trips almost every year to places of educational and interesting, such as Toronto and Washington DC Our guides will not have hands full watching over a bunch of excited girls, but we've always had a good time appropriately, wherever we went (without major incidents or madness).

Even in a private school, we were able to have prom, formal or informal dances of various kinds, and we had friends who were from other schools. Being in a private school does not mean that you no longer have your former school friends. I kept contact with some of my old friends and gained new ones, too. We worked hard but had fun too. After school, I spent most of my time with my horse, riding at a local stable. I saw my friends and my horse. Then went home and studied hard. Was a balance between work and pleasure, in a structured way.

Leaving the safety of my little school (our class had 54 graduating girls in it) was a bit of a culture shock. I went to a great university, Rochester Institute of Technology, which was mainly composed young men. It took a little practice, but I felt no inconvenience. It was an adventure to try something again. Laurel School had achieved its goal: to extinguish a confident, disciplined young lady who wanted to continue his studies. I fully recommend private schools, because it is always useful to have guidance as we grow as children and young adults. It helps to shape our future and promote confidence. In addition, colleges and universities love candidates who are well rounded school students they receive each year. Our full-time college counselor in Laurel worked hard to educate us on what the colleges have been there to continue. We even had a class trip to a few colleges and universities in Ohio, Ohio State in Denison, and others. It was fun to see the different styles of learning and colleges that best suits our individual needs.

For anyone considering a private education for their children, will visit the campus tour and read the biographies of various staff. Talk to teachers and students. Look in different schools, that each has its own sense of. Explore financing options with financial advisor, there are usually scholarships for those who need. By giving your child a quality education, it creates itself or its place a bright future. Public schools are great, too, everything depends individual needs of your child. Where would he or she better be as happy and prosperous? class size will allow the teachers to help save a child shy of his shell. He has done for me. It's worth the risk, if you take it.
